  • Monitoring multiple mono tracks.

I have a sequence that has multiple clips that have 3, independent, mono audio tracks. It seems like PP is mixing down my audio to a stereo output. My audio meters show a single stereo track. All of my clips are mono and my sequence is mono. Any thoughts?

If your sequence is set to Mono then your meters should show only one channel of audio.

I have the reverse issue from time to time, as sometimes I want my Mono sequence (containing Mono & Stereo sources) to export Stereo just once, and of course it won’t. I have to make a new sequence to get a stereo export.

My sequence is set to mono and my audio meters are set to “monitor mono channels”. The individual clips show 3, independent audio channels in the audio meters. When I put them in a sequence. The output becomes stereo.

Wow, I don’t know what to make of that. I just played around with a sequence set to Mono Master, and changed settings on the meters, but couldn’t duplicate your issue.
Has PP been doing this for a while or only since the last reboot? You could try restarting PP, and if that doesn’t work, reboot, and see if the behavior goes away. My meters are stereo for “stereo master” sequences, and mono for “mono master” sequences. At least so far!

    Sorry I couldn’t help.

If I understand your problem right, I suggest you do the following:
    1. Create a new sequence.
    2. Click on the Tracks tab.
    3. Under Audio choose Multichannel for “Master” and 3 for “Number of channels”.
    4. Choose Adaptive for “Track type”.
    5. Map the audio. For Audio 1, Output 1 is set to 1, Output 2 & 3 are set to none. For Audio 2, Output 1 is set to 2, Output 2 & 3 are set to none. For Audio 3, Output 1 is set to 3, Output 2 & 3 are set to none.
    6. Tick “Open” and click OK.
    7. Drag your audio sources into the timeline to see the meters.
    8. Click on the monitor channels (they turn blue) to activate all of them.
