Ok so I’m trying to monitor 720p out of final cut through 1394 like with a DV camera and having no luck. If I go into the MCR “other options” menu and toggle ona nd off deflt The camera picks up Final Cut’s signal, but it doesn’t seem to be coming out of the component out of the camera to the monitor.

The Av output says 720p. does this work? Even monitoring to the camera seems kind of unstable. It won’t really stay connected.

We are going to be picking up an AJA card pretty soon, but I can’t belive this camera won’t act as a typical VTR for monitoring.

We are using the Panasonic BT1700W by the way, so the monitor should be fine, it’s saying it’s getting no signal.

Thanks in advance, any help is appreciated.

    Ok,

I’m just replying to my own post here. I’ve now confirmed from a thread on DVXuser that indeed you cannot monitor HD via firewire through this camera. Apparently the component outputs are disabled for firewire output. Seems a little weak to me. But I still like the camera. I just thought yall should know. YOU CANNOT MONITOR HD VIA 1394 THROUGH THIS CAMERA.

We moved up getting our Kona card, but I gues it’s digital cinema for the powerbooks. Oh well, I guess it’s just SD -> HD growing pains eh?
