  • Monitoring FCP timeline using 1394 and Component Out

So I have my little HVX-200A and I have a consumer HDTV television. I’m hoping that I can monitor my FCP sequence on the TV from the timeline with these settings:

DVCPro HD 720p60 @ 23.98fps 960×720 pixel aspect and frame size

I’ve currently got it wired like this:

Firewire cable from the Mac (Octo) to the HVX and the supplied Component cable running from the HVX to the TV.

It used to be so easy with a Sony Handycam. I just plugged in the firewire and video out of the camera to a tv.

The camera shows up in the Video Playback list under VIEW in 3 flavors:

    DVCPRO HD 720p60 (1280×720)
    DVCPRO HD 1080i60 (1920×1080)
    DVCPRO HD 1080p30 (1920×1080)

    I’ve tried all three.

Is there an output (or input) setting on the camera that I need to change? Do I need to go out and get an HDMI cable? Will that work?

Am I hoping against hope? Barking up the wrong tree? (Add your own cliché here… )

    Thanks for the advice…
