Monitor vs HDTV
My Vegas material rendered to BluRay, as well as commercial BluRay disks, look far sharper on an HDTV than on my 24″ HP HDMI monitor, which offers 1920 x 1080.
I have calibrated the monitor as well as I can.
Could anyone suggest anything I could look at or is this just down to the technology used in the HDTV?

I have a monitor and a HDTV connected to my PC.I test it on both, since most people will be watching it on a HDTV in the end.

Is the TV plazma? Maybe you like that look better. My 40″ LCD HDTV also does a way better job at different resolutions than my Monitor: both are 1920×1080. The whites on the TV are brighter and I am not impressed as much with the HD monitor…

No, the TV is LCD. The TV looks sharper. It’s the resolution that concerns me.

I just bought myself a second monitor and right from the beginning I could see a difference between the two. The newer one gives me a much better image. They are exactly the same model, though, but the first one is over a year and a half while the second one just a few days old. I’m just thinking that maybe (I don’t claim to have any knowledge on that) that could be an explanation. After all, I don’t know for you, but I use my monitor a lot more than my TV, so I would expect the image quality to degrade faster on my monitor than on my TV.
