  • Monitor looks interlaced but my video and output and monitor settings are all progressive

Posted by Anna Nguyen on December 13, 2013 at 2:15 pm

    Hi,

I recently moved, and when I set up my new office I started working on a color project. I noticed that playback on my JVC Broadcast monitor was appearing interlaced– frame blurring on motion. My video is progressive, my monitor settings have never changed. When i tried to look at the video in final cut, the monitor also appeared interlaced even though all my settings were progressive as is the video.

Any idea what could be happening?

If it is a 1080 project I think FCP may be the problem. Try playing back the source to your monitor with Blackmagic Media Express.

Well I also played back out of Resolve and the same was happening…

Now that I’m looking more into it, what I’m seeing may be “ghosting”…

i have seen something similar when playing your 1080p timeline in 720p preset or
    totally custom PAL setup.

    Maybe this is similar case?
