  • MONITOR FLICKER IN CONTROL ROOM SETTING?

    Hello:

I’ve got a client about to shoot a TV control room full of 60i monitors. He wants to shoot 24P, but his DP insists that he’ll have flicker/roll problems shooting all those monitors. He usually shoots with ClearScan on an F900. According to the DVX manual, it says that the ‘Synchro Scan’ feature will take care of this. Is this true? Cause I’d sure hate to see them revert to Beta SP at 60i, being the progressive 24P fan that I am!

Thanks in advance for any insight.

    Best, JIM.

The Synchro Scan on your camera works identically to the snob DP’s F900. You’ll be smiling at his attempt to milk the client for more $ as you shoot away.

    Another opion.

Shoot those sections at 60i and 24P. You can always put a pulldown on those few shots that have the monitors in them. I have dones this for close-ups if I can’t quite get rid of the flicker.
