Activity Forums AJA Video Systems Monitor

I have a question about monitoring that I hope one of you can help me with.
I produce/shoot/edit for the hospitals on Vancouver Island, and we are about to update our offices with newer 12 core macs, dual 27inch monitors, and a wall mount TV up high.
We have looked at Thunderbolt, AJA and a few other options.

My question is about the feed to the wall mount Sony TV. Do I look at a hdmi (TV card) or simply another video card that can output hdmi?
Would an AJA 3g offer anything more to this solution?
What are you using and why?
    Thank you.

everyone is using an I/O card from AJA, Matrox, Blackmagic, or MOTU.
Why ? Because that’s how you get out to an external TV. You can get a plasma with DVI or HDMI input, and use Cinema Preview to go full screen to a big monitor, but to a TV, you use one of the boxes I mentioned above.

Any card will work – they are all in business for this exact application. The AJA product line just happens to be the best.
