Hey there. I’ve been tasked to upgrade a system for a training center. They have an Avid Mojo DX and MC 3.5. There is also a ProTools system and FCP on separate boot drives. Their monitor is an PVM 20m4U without the SDI card and they also have a Sony DSR 2000 DVCam deck.

I set up the Mojo DX to feed SDI to the the deck and then used the component output to feed the monitor. The deck has a signal generator and bars hit the monitor from component and composite (Super) out. No such luck from the Avid. Either the signal is not coming out of the Avid in a correct format or the signal out of the Mojo is not reaching the deck.

Avid Mojo and deck are also getting blackburst from generator. The flashing indicator on the Mojo is SD_SDI indicating a bad input signal….There is no input attached, everything else is locked. The card is in the 4th slot.

When I switch the input on the DSR 2000 to SDI it doesn’t show anything but black. I know the monitor is hooked up right.

Is there any way to test the output of the Avid? I’ve tried switching users/projects etc…30i 24 p 1080, etc…nothing out of the Avid. Strange….I must be forgetting something really simple. Anybody have a clue?

I forgot to put the system specs.
MacPro dual quadcore, nvidia geforce 120 graphics card, 4gigs ram, no Raid, dual boot Avid & FCP. Leopard 10.5.8, Avid 3.5 and Mojo DX.

    THANKS.

With the Mojo you may only have one output at a time. In Avid, open video output settings and select component out and see if that does it for you.

The SDI mojo can only output SDI and composite at the same time. You can’t get component and SDI at the same time. You could loop component out of the deck…

Yes, I am looping through the deck. The problem seems to be that there is no SDI signal coming from the Mojo DX. From what I understand, it gets the signal through the card and outputs to the deck, where I am converting it to component for the monitor.

The Avid video out tool seems like it is missing something here. There isn’t an option for component out or composite, for instance….

I’m wondering if a recent ProTools install has changed anything. I’m expecting to pick this up again this week and I’ll report back….Thanks.
