Wouldn’t you know – right in the middle of a project I begin to have monster Mojo problems. For no apparent reason whenever I power up the deck that I have been using with my system all along it causes xpress pro w/ mojo to crash and if i reboot the computer w/ the deck (Sony DSR 20) powered up mojo is no where to be seen – not in device manager or anywhere in avid settings…Last night all was working great – this morning – i notice no audi coming out of the head set, then notice the deck is off – turn the deck on and what i’ve described above happens. If express pro is powered up with the deck on the program hangs up either in configuring digital i/o or audio something. And, once this happens Avid quits responding, I have to shut down dirty and then when I reboot no mojo no where reboot several more times switch cables mojo comes back for no reason that I can see. I know it must be me but what? I’ve changed all cables – I’ve tried all I know – now I turn to you. Any advice?

    Hi Karen,

I dont know if this will help, but I have had exactly these problems with the sony dsr-11 with avid xpress (no mojo) and final cut pro. Boot up with the deck on and the software hangs and hangs then quits, or I turn off the deck and the software sparks into life. My fix for this was to let the software go through the first loading stage and then once it looked as though it was working turn the deck on before the software actually opens. If that makes sense?

    Good Luck

    Justin

THANKs Justin, I’ll give it a shot. Thanks for responding. It’s really wierd – I don’t understand why this problem would suddenly appear! Bad Mojo. I’ll let you know if this works. karen

Your Mojo could be dying…which is not an uncommon problem. You might try dropping an email to Avid tech support, or even posting over at the Avid forums, which are frequented by Avid personnel more than this one (no offense, Kathlyn and Ron!). I realize it’s bad form to advertise for another forum on this one, but in this situation, I think it’s acceptable. In any case, I’d start out on the XPro forum for starters. The mods over there can help you out better, in the event that a solid answer isn’t revealed: https://www.avid.com/exchange/forums/14/ShowForum.aspx

Again, my apologies, Kathyln and Ron, as your site rocks! But in this case, I think the manufacturer would be better suited to helping.

Now come on – tell me what you really think. Here’s what I think – Mojo is really weird in that it’s this ambiguous box with virtually no exterior controls – if something goes wrong with it -how do you know – what can you do but stare at it, power up or down, reseat the fire wire connectors – NOW that’s what I’m talking about.

Thanks for responding. I’ve taken your advice and posted on the avid forum. I am not finding a way to email to an avid tech regarding this issue as my 30 day support has expired.
But you mentioned that this might not be the right forum for me and I am wondering if this forum (Avid.cow)is not for avid express pro users…? kd

No, no…this forum (the Avid Cow) is for ALL Avid users, from Free DV to DS Nitris and Unity users. Besides MichaelP and Marianna (Montague), there’s not really any Avid employees who monitor this forum. The ONLY reason I directed you towards the Avid forums is to give you direct access to people who use your specific project (on a specific forum–FOR XPro+Mojo), plus get to you a site where Avid employees (including Customer Service and Tech Support) frequent. Also, the moderator’s over there can get you into contact with the people who know the answers to your questions, should they or the users not be able to resolve them themselves.

Other than that, I spend a ton of time on this forum…mostly “lurking” but always reading and learning. 🙂 This is a great resource, by all means USE IT!

    Good luck.
