    Alright… I’ve created a landscape/Valley

I have used a selection on some of the polygons to populate it with trees.

Using the Object Mode in the Cloner… adding the Selection… Surface mode.

Why is it I need such a high number in the COUNT function to get just a handful of my trees. I have to put in 3000 just to get 20 or 30 trees to populate the selected polygons?

Also, how do I get all my trees to grow Straight up in the Y Axis? Align Clone aligns things to the normal not the World Axis. Using the Up Vector doesn’t seem to do it.

    Thanks

I suspect that the cloner is calculating the total surface even though you’re using a selection of it.

As far as the up vector, the easiest way would be to use a target effector and move it way up in Y.

Like Adam said – the number of clones always is calculated based on the overall surface area. For your alignment problem I’d simply turn off the “Fix Clone” option as well as the “Align” feature and rotate the trees into position. The target effector option of course also works, but it’s less practical.
