  • Mograph Cache tag not working for Fracture within Fracture

    Hi, longtime reader, first-time poster.
I have a flashlight model with internal objects I’m animating apart then back together.
I used the Mograph Fracture with the Step effector to animate the parts out of the flashlight in the Z-axis.
The problem I ran into initially was that from the Fractured object, I had 3 batteries that needed to move outward. The only solution I had was to add those batteries into another Fracture within the Fracture and add the effector Push Apart. That seemed to be the only solution I could think of because it is working. Now the problem is that I can add a Mograph Cache tag to the first Fracture and it successfully bakes. But when I try to bake the Fracture that is within the Fracture, that bake is unsuccessful. I attached a project file. The animating starts around frame 460.

Any tips or work around would be most appreciated. THANKS!

    Hi Ryan,
I just had a similar issue – 2 mograph cache tags in one project and only one would bake. A few restarts later and it cleared itself up. Still don’t know what the problem was.
We’re having a terrible memory leak issue here. On machines with not quite enough ram to do the rendering, Cinema brings them to their knees when the rendering is done and a number of restarts are required to clear the ram and the page file before you can do anything else (Cinema or otherwise).

Steve, not sure if I figured it out, but I think using just one mograph cache tag on the parent Fracture, it will bake all of its child mographs, in my case a Fracture within a Fracture within a Fracture. I just saw this in the C4D help https://c4d.cn/help/c4dcn/cn/html/TMOGRAPH_CACHE.html

Are you using Team Render? I know using it over wifi can hinder performance. Ethernet for all machines is the way to go.
