Modules for Older Versions
Posted by Chris Holland on February 25, 2008 at 7:29 pmDoes anyone know where I can purchase modules for older versions of Cinema 4d ? We have version 9.6 at my job and need the dynamics module. At this point they won’t pay to update C4d itself let alone upgrade to a bundle.
Any help would be great. Thanks.

February 27, 2008 at 3:19 pmHave you tried Maxon’s shop? Other than that, I’m not really sure.
If you only need hard-body dynamics you might try Remotion’s PhyTools plugin instead of Dynamics. I’m pretty sure it works in R9.6+ and it’s faster and easier to use than the Dynamics module.

Thanks for the help. I tried Maxon and they said that they don’t offer it anymore. All I need is to buy a serial number but for whatever reason they don’t do that. I guess there trying to force people to upgrade but then they are cutting out a part of the video force that doesn’t have the budget to upgrade until they have use for some of the modules.
We bought the base package because no one here knew the program so we wanted to make sure that we started learning it first before spending 3k+ for all the modules. Now I have learned some of the program and feel comfortable with it enough to move into some more advanced stuff and s could use some modules but we have to upgrade the whole package since we didn’t buy them at the time.
It worries me because I just bought the base package for myself with Mograqph but didn’t have the money for a bundle. Now I feel lke I have to start gettng modules before the next version comes out or I am out of luck.
Anyway, Sorry for the rant. I will look into the Remotion Plug. Thanks again Adam.

February 27, 2008 at 11:47 pmHey Chris,
You might also check at the CGTalk Cinema forum and see if anyone would be interested in selling you their Dynamics license. To be honest, I think that hardly anyone uses it. The only problem is that, for those who have a bundle that includes it, they couldn’t sell the license without breaking the bundle for future upgrades.
