  • Modeling A Baseball – questions

I want to create the cover of a baseball right now, I may do the inside core at some point but I don’t really need it right now. Here is my plan one side at a time:

    -bezier spline tracing unwrapped baseball
    -extrude
-cloner object (mograph) a booled sphere or cylinder around the object for holes. I think I can attach this to my spline and bring the radius in a little.
-model two stitches and match the clones to the holes
-wrap the two opposing covers together with some sort of sphere deformer

Is this the best way to go about this? I want it to look like this one – https://www.turbosqui…am-model/394632

This is also a good reference – https://www.cgchannel.com/images/maxon/MFactor/Thumbs/mlb_reg_stitches-04T.jpg

Edit: I’ve been working on this for a little while now and I think it may be easier for me to create the threads in Mograph and deform that to a sphere?

shouldn’t be a bad way to do it.
