Hello I am new to Cinema 4d and I am trying to model a robot for animation. Here is a link to the design.

I am having a lot of trouble and havent even made it past the head. I have been trying to use primitives and the boole tool to cut out shapes for the eyes and then extrude them back, but its not really working well. The eyes are flat and recede about 1/4 of the way into the sphere. The eye is smaller than the socket opening and ramps downward. I wanted the band section that goes through the eyes to also recede slightly into the main sphere. I’m really ripping my hair out with this.

If anyone has any suggestions, tips, or tutorials that they know of I would really appreciate. Or if anyone has suggestion on the design it self Id love to hear those too.

    Thanks Everyone!

Booleans have their place — mainly for quick modeling or for cutting out shapes that would be very difficult to model by hand — but they’re limited insofar as: 1) they use a lot of memory, and 2) they create bad geometry that’s hard to work with.

For something like this robot, you’d really want to do some polygon modeling. My suggestion would be check out some of the modeling tutorials at https://www.c4dportal.com/ to get a basic introduction to it.
