    Hello. I am having an issue with Mocha not tracking properly.
    I am a complete Newbie to this so bear with me.

    I have done what all the tutorials have said which is to set the perspective with the penx tool…
    I then move to the blue perspective box, and then take a look at my grid…all looks great at this point.

    as it renders however I notice the blue box is not sticking to that position.

    It’s moving. This is a standard slider shot of a wall, and i’m trying to put text on the wall as if it were painted on.

    Can someone shed some light on this for me?

    I see the Planar Surface and the Planar Grid BUT I do not see any tracking splines in the images you posted.

    To be clear, the Planar Grid works as a child of the Planar Surface – so there’s no information of worth in what you’ve described, other than your tracking results being unsatisfactory.

    You will have to show us the tracking splines, a screen grab of the Tracking Panel (for us to see the props you’ve enabled and where applicable, their values) a low rez of the entire footage will be good.

    Cheers

    Your search area is far too big and is overlapping multiple planes. Looking at your frame, I would assume that you will be able to get a track by simply drawing your search shape around the small rectangle to the right of the door. Otherwise the depth from the door itself and the fact that their is no detail on the wall to track will certainly throw this off.

    Once this is tracked, than you can than adjust the surface (the blue box) to position the text on to the wall.

    I would recommend watching some more mocha tutorials including the mocha Fundamentals:
    https://www.imagineersystems.com/video/?tagFilter=mocha%20Fundamentals&&dd=dateOld&orderby=date&order=ASC

    Once you get the hang of planar tracking and learning how mocha thinks, this type of shot is extremely simple.

    Best,
    Ross

    Good on spotting the Tracking Spline, Ross – I missed that. I should make a copy of your glasses. 🙂
