I feel there’s gotta be a way to use a formula attached to a spine and then just extrude it to get a mobius strip?

    Or is there something else?

    I’m on C4D 10

There’s a pretty easy way to do it. Use a SweepNURBS and then adjust the rotation spline in the attributes manager so that one point is all the way Y max and the point at the opposite side of the graph is at Y min.

That would give a full twist, I think. You would need to go Y max (or min) on one side and Y Middle (0.5) on the other side to get the 1/2 twist a mobius needs – it also leaves you with one twisted poly that has to be deleted and replaced by hand.
