  MME failed in Audition. What now?

  I’m running Audition CS6. If I’m not wrong, things went south when Windows updated to 1803 without my permission (screw you MS). Then Audition constantly spawns me MME Internal Device Error, and I have none of the options. ASIOs is stupidly loud and overrides everything so I don’t want that. What are the options? I got a project going on and this thing is getting me stuck.
  On a side note, Premiere Pro and After Effects worked fine for some reason (Pr uses MME while Ae uses Ae WDM – both are defaults I believe).
