    Hi,

Excuse my ignorance but I’m still training to be an editor using final cut studio and media composer etc but was offered an edit assistant gig using premiere pro today… I decided to take it as i have the software and knew it was similar to fcp…I’ve had a play around just now and it is pretty similar to fcp so no problem there…

Anyway, on Friday I’m going to be given a ton of footage to cut, organise and export using premiere which is no problem except that the guy has specified that I keep everything in the mjpeg format…it will arrive in mjpeg and he has specified he wants it exported directly from premiere with no extra compression – as mjpeg…he says he’s done this in premiere with this footage himself…that he keeps working and queues up the sequences for export…think he was on a pc whereas im on a mac…I’ve played around with premiere and can see you can queue to export a sequence…ive tested some of my own 720p footage and exported it using FILE>EXPORT>MEDIA>QUEUE and ticked match sequence settings and this creates an mpeg file which VLC will play…sounds like the workflow he mentioned and works fine…

I’m just wondering what preset i use for the sequence when i import these mjpeg clips and what preset i use when i export them…i cant see an mjpeg one in here…

Any advice would be much appreciated…

    Thanks,

    Mike

no worries….just found the New item icon in project pane to create sequence settings from clip settings…and then just tick match sequence settings on export…

although ‘match sequence settings’ only outputs mpegs no matter what type of footage im exporting…how do i export a file as mjpeg from premiere?

    Thanks

    Mike

You need to change the output codec in QuickTime inside of Premiere Pro

    Export Media
    Format QuickTime
Video tab choose Video Codec – MJPEG A (or B) and play with the given settings.
