Hi folks; is it still possible to export MJPEG-A QuickTime from AVID? I’ll have to find out what system/mac system the editor is on but a project I’m about to post is saying they can’t handle our delivery requirements.

If he’s on snow leopard, the legacy option is gone now from what I understand.

We can’t use H.264 for Pro Tools compatibility reasons so wondering if other folks are able to export MJPEG-A?

    Thanks.

You’ll have to turn on “legacy codecs” in your Quicktime Player settings (Edit->Preferences->Quicktime->Advanced).

Thanks for the reply. But that is what I was alluding to before, sorry for being unclear.

The editor is saying that isn’t an option; I haven’t gotten information yet as to which Mac OS and which AVID version.

Which versions are you running on? Avid / Mac OS?

    I tried on Win7/QT7.6.6.

Apparently, the option is not present in the Snow Leopard version of QT. Found a solution here:

    https://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=11403860&tstart=0

Open a Terminal window and enter the following, followed by the return key:

    qtdefaults write LegacyCodecsEnabled yes

    You should see the response:

    Legacy encoders have been enabled.

They rid of the QT preference pane in 10.6, so this is the back door method to achieve the same end.

This worked for me on 10.6.3.
