    Hey everyone,

We’re adding a few new Avid systems to our fleet. Currently all of our systems are running Media Composer v6. The new licenses we just bought are for 6.5. Does anyone have any experience with editors working in v6.0.3 and v6.5.2 sharing projects/media/etc? Any problems that we should be aware of? Should we just steer clear of this scenario all together?

    Thanks,
    -Dan Shott

You can edit projects fine mixing these versions. The differences are mainly in how some features work (adjusting keyframes, slight AMA interface differences, IO device on/off switch)…among other features. But nothing that basic editing will get into.

It really is best to have exactly the same formats, at least in a shared project workflow. I would not mix versions in that case. But if we are talking people working on independent media and project files, and handing them off to one another, you should be fine for the most part.

We do it all the time. Pc to Mac 6.0 to 6.5 and back. The bigger problem happens when 1 box has a set of plugins that the other box doesn’t.

Keep it to a basic offline, and you’ll be fine.
