Mixing formats in a sequence
Posted by John Timblemore on August 4, 2006 at 9:49 pmI’m cutting together a piece in which three cameras were used, obviously all different formats. I’m dealing with DV, HDV, and DVCPro HD. What is the best way to deal with all of this? Do I set up a sequence for 1080i and bring the DV up? Do DVCPro HD and HDV even work together?

Is the DVCPRO HD footage 1080 or 720?
DV blown up to 1080 will not look good, just so you know.

Download the demo and give it a shot. Good price point too, if you need it!!

August 4, 2006 at 11:17 pmI would down convert the HD & HDV to DV. As a general rule of thumb I always go with the lowest resolution source, as down converting wokes better then up ressing.

Unless your delivery format is HD! Then it’s the opposite, pull everything up to the highest resolution so that GRFX, renders, etc. look as good as possible.

Thats not the case here it was a 3 camera shoot and they want to use footage from all 3 cameras in one project. And HD will look better downconverted to DV then DV will look up converted to HD for use in mixing the 2 together.
