I’d love to hear from other producers who are mixing HVX200 and DSLR footage. I’m shooting DSLR at 1920 X 1080, 23.98 and want to intercut with HVX200 footage. What do you recommend as a HVX200 setting and for the timeline of the 2?

    Thanks

They both shoot 1080p, so they’ll match just fine, DVCPRO HD is a thin raster format. You’ll likely have more noise in the 200 footage next to DSLR.

Shoot 1080/24p on the HVX, it fits into 1080 sequence as it should. They’ll be the same format/specs.

The HVX is 1280 X 1080 interlace while my Canon shoots 1920 X 1080 progressive. Would I be better off shooting 720P/24PN?

(I’m shooting 23.98 so better to shoot on the HVX 1080i/24PA if I shoot 1080 on it)

The HVX 1280 X 1080 is “DVCPROHD codec” which is a “thin raster codec.”

It’s still 1920×1080 when you edit, edit in a 1920×1080 sequence since that is what ALL your footage is.
