Mixing different grip equipment?
Posted by Kat Hayes on October 9, 2008 at 6:31 pmWill different c-stand components, such as a Matthews Quaker clamp work with an Avenger c-stand?
Thanks.

The simple answer is yes, as there are standard sizes for baby mounts on light and stands. Be sure and mark all your gear with the same color paint or tape labels though, so when you are mixing up with other crews or rental gear you’ll be certain to get your stuff back at the end of the day.

October 10, 2008 at 3:33 amAre there any issues with creating adhesive labels from a Brother label maker and affixing labels to any of the following:
– outer metal frame around a scrim
– an Arri light fixture
– the back of a Kino fixtureWill these melt or worse, potentially catch fire?

It is a very good idea to label your equipment as most bestboys in the business do when checking in the rental gear. Sub-rentals may get a different color label so they can be flagged to be returned first. As for lights I recommend you use the yoke or any suitable place that doesn’t heat up. Kino’s can be anywhere. Just remember to mark every piece of gear as long as you are doing it.Good Luck
