Mixing 720 and 1080 in Premier Pro
Hi guys,
Ive read a few posts on this but am still unclear so would be greatful if you could help
i have a mix of 720 and 1080 footage and Id like the final movie to be in 1080. Whats the best way to do this? I have read some say set the sequence as 720 and then let the hardware (playstation or tv) do the upscaling, but this seems like a waste to my 1080 footage.
Is there a better way?

Scale the footage in Premiere. It does a very good job. You will be hard pressed to see the difference, honestly.

This is my first project in Premiere, so a couple more questions if I could
I have created a number of sequences by dropping the clips in the new items icon and have just checked the settings for the sequences and some are 720 and 1 is 1080
whats the best approach to not loose too much work?

Well, copy and paste into the 1080 sequence. But know that you will have to manually resize all the clips.

Ok thanks – is it best to change the sequence settings on the 720 sequences to 1080 in the sequence settings or is it best to just create new 1080 sequences from scratch?
Also what’s the best way to do the scaling? Can i do a batch job somehow?

You can select all your 720p clips, right click, and choose “set to frame size.” Or scale one up and copy it, then Paste Attributes (select Motion) onto all the other 720 clips.
