    Hi,

I recently purchased a 3d tracker (syntheyes) and tracked some sample footage with it. Then I imported the tracking info and the footage into AE. The footage is 2d. When I make new layers, I convert them into 3d layers, so I can move them around in space.

Here’s my question– When I look in the active camera, I can see my 2d layer and my 3d layers (which is what I expect). When I look in a different view (not the camera, but a side or top view), why is it that the 2d layer still shows up in the main window? Shouldn’t it only show up in the main window when viewing through the active camera?

    Thanks,
    ~Marcus

Nope. That’s just the way it works, because 2D layers are not affected by camera angle.

huh…. thanks for the reply. That seems a bit counter-intuitive. Thanks for the info… at least I know I’m not doing something wrong!

Well, sometimes we want the 2D background to always be there. I suppose a pref setting to “hide 2D layers from side/top orthogonal views” might be useful.
