Thanks Bruce, this is the type of response I was looking for and addresses many of the concerns I have. Yes, the H5 has -20db pad when using line in ☹. This is why I was asking about some of the lower end Tascam units as I’ve heard some of them may actually bypass the preamps completely when fed line level inputs, so I am in the process of researching that before selling my 302/H5 and pulling the plug on a MixPre or F4/F8. The Zoom F series looks great for the cost too.
