Mixed File Sizes and Frame Rates, Maybe??
Hi,
We are cutting a new show, with some mixed footage of past seasons. So the past two seasons we were working with Panasonic DV50 footage at 16×9 24p. This season we are working with Panasonic p2 shooting 720p 24pn(It’s been wonderful).
We are cutting some of the shows together, and starting with the 1280×720 frame at 24p. So here is the glitch, sometimes the shows and the footages cut together smoothly and are a breeze to work with in the new Final Cut 6 set up, but other times there is a glitch with the footage and it’s really choppy and doesn’t work well at all? I’m 99% sure that all our footage is 24p, why would the choppiness happen with the DV50 only some of the time? Is there something I’m missing, or something I should be looking for in my DV50 footage?

Dave, Thanks.
Everything sounds right by what you’re saying, I believe the way it works with the DV50, is the everything is shot at 60 frames with a pull down to 29.97, then another pulldown to 23.98, I Believe??
So, let me see if I completely understand the workflow.
I should just go to the original project file and copy the footage over to the new timeline? Or do I want to take the original footage, bring it into a timeline that is DV50 at 23.98, then use the that as a Nested Comp and bring that into the new timeline?
Is there anything I can do pre-editing to the DV50 footage, to help make this a much happier workflow?
