    i m working in final cut studio…this panel will use for NEWS editing purpose,so we are going shoot in various format and codec, so it will not possible for us to work with different project for different format footage,i like to create a single project and with a single timeline,and i have to exportit into IMX50 for SD 4:3 screening,is there any way of mixing the different footages in one timeline???? i m giving you my machine specification and the shooting mode which we are going to apply…let me know the setting of the over all project setup which can run the timeline in extreme realtime…..

    Machine : Macintosh G5
    Editing Card :Matrox MXO2
    Shooting mode and format : HD: DVCPRO 720i/25p(progressive)
    DV: 576i/50i

    Yes, FCP 6 allows you to mix and match formats and even frame rates in one timeline. BUT you are going to have to render anything that doesn’t match your timeline settings.

    thanks for your advice…i like to know a few things more…what kind of files will not support by the timeline?? and how do i convert 1080 to 720 cross conversion????

    Look in the EASY SETUP list. Those are the formats supported by FCP. Any other format is not.

    Well, when you capture is the best way. You have the Matrox MXO2? Open the System Preferences, then click on the MXO2 in the OTHER section. Then in the AV Input tab…choose your Input Source, then in the Scaling section choose SCALE INPUT FOR CAPTURE…and choose the source format. THen in FCP choose the Easy Setup that matches the format you want to capture and the MXO2 will scale the footage to match. Pretty easy.

    well sir i like to know some thing more from you.i use to work with graphics in after effects and 3ds max, do you have any idea how to render from after effects and 3ds max so that the graphics which i render can run real time in final cut studio….and how do i work with adobe premiere cs4 footages in final cut studio….sometimes i have to render in my timline which kill lots of time…pls let me know….and thanks Mr.Walter once again….
