Ok well first off ty for looking at this thread and trying to help me.

I still use Vegas 8 since I can’t afford anything better right now so…

I’ve got 4 vob files altogether 3 capped at 1,048,544 kb,
I try and drag a vob media file from my desktop to vegas 8 and it gets reduced to 8sec for the first file 12 secs for the 2nd file and the 3rd and 4th are fine , it’s like all the video is missing and i just took it from a cd my father gave me of my grandma doin some old recipes , i was spost to edit it and then burn some dvd’s for family , but when i watch it w/ lets WMP or QT it plays all the entire video.

Pls help me figure this out tks.

Sounds like Vegas isn’t properly able to read the entire file. Instead of dragging vob files to the timeline, why not put the DVD in and choose the option File – Import – DVD Camcorder Disc which will properly convert the DVD back to MPEG2 files for Vegas to use.

Well I dont have the DVD anymore , we copied it from the DVD to my computer and I moved away and we no longer can find the DVD.

Use the same technique Edward mentioned but browse to the folder on your hard drive that contains the *.vob files instead of an actual DVD.
I’ve done this numerous times so I know it works.

Yeah I tried that before I posted and it didn’t work , I open the DVD Cam , go to Browse find the folder click on it and the Ok button doesn’t light up , I’ve tried to dbl click the folder and nothing happens.

“go to Browse find the folder click on it and the Ok button doesn’t light up”

You went one step too far.
Stop when you get to the folder containing the VIDEO_TS & AUDIO_TS folders.
OK should be highlighted at this point.
Click OK, select the destination folder and wait while Vegas does the conversion for you.

“unfortunately there is no video ts or audio ts folder”

Then the suggestions Edward and I made won’t work 🙁
I had hopes that Vegas would come through for us but I tried it using *.vob files only (no *.BUP or *.IFO files) and didn’t have any luck.

All I can suggest is posting this question in the Sony Vegas forum as there are more experienced users that may have other recommendations for you.

Thanks for trying, I’m having my father try and find the dvd again so he can send it to me before I have to go to Calif in a few weeks.

Why not just create a Video_TS and Audio_TS folder and move all of the files inside the Video_TS folder?
