  • Missing Text Bounding Box in Motion 4

While doing a tutorial in Motion 4 from Mark Spencer, I could not
change the size of the text I typed, I had NO bounding box. In
Motion 3, after going to the text tool, in your canvas, you could
just click and drag that invisible text bounding box, and could use
it to quickly resize your text. While typing in Motion 4, my text
just “wrapped to the next line.
After going to the Apple Forums, found comments saying under the
Layout Tab in the inspector, change the layout to “paragraph” and
that would solve the problem. Well it didnt’.
Any ideas? My Motion 3 at home works fine, but Motion 4 must have
    something turned off?
    Thanks

Changing the size of the text is different than changing the size of the text box. If want to change the size of the text box, the Layout needs to be set to Paragraph. One way to do this is before you start typing but after selecting the Text tool, click-drag to create a box of the size you want. This will automatically set the layout to Paragraph. The other way is to choose that setting after the fact, then double-click in the text box and drag one of the square bounding box handles to resize the box.

If you want to change the size of the text itself, you can either change the font size in the HUD or Inspector, or the Scale of the text layer (for example, by dragging a corner of the bounding box when the text is set to the layout Type or using the Scale parameter in the Inspector).

These methods should work the same in both Motion 3 and 4.

Thanks Mark. Must have just did some things out of order. I worked on the “Eliot Spencer” tutorial
today and the bounding box was there and worked like usual.
