(Missing) ProIO – NTSC US – Component YPbPr SMPTE N10 – 10-bit 422 (720 x 486)

Don’t have an answer, but one of my clients has a similar problem.

I did an Erase & Install of Tiger, upgraded him to v10.4.2, and installed Final Cut Studio fresh. Ran Final Cut once, installed the Io 2.0 driver, and Control Panel 1.0.0. Updated the firmware to 28-23.

The Pro Io US BetaSP Component 8bit is not found.

We’ve tried trashing the prefs, setting up in Control Panel, downgrading the firmware in Control Panel, then updating again. (BTW, we never see the “Programming complete, cycle power” message, but the 28-23 firmware is loaded, according to the Info tab).

Nothing fixes this.

The client’s system: dual 2GHz G5 (2nd generation w/ PCI-X), 4GB RAM, GeForce 6800 Ultra, Mac OS X v10.4.2, QT 7.0.1, FCP 5.0.2, Io 2.0 driver, Control Panel 1.0.0, ATTO UL3D, Huge Systems 320RX RAID3 array, Io.

I’ve told the client to call Aja Tech Support 1st thing Monday morning.

Could it be that the component is there but it has not inherited the correct new permissions? Does the component actually exist on the machine but it doesn’t show up as available in the software? If so, try opening the Get Info of the file for that preset and see if has the correct owner, etc.

I was getting this error for a while way before Tiger, probably when I upgraded from Jaguar. Somewhere along the line, I re-installed everything when I switched computers for a room re-alignment and the issue went away. I’m fuzzy on the details but I remember it being merely an annoyance.

Did you do a Tiger CacheCleaner thing too? Preferential Treatment check? Can’t hurt.

Try reinstalling quicktime. Just download the latest Quicktime and install it over itself. I have found on other forums that when people upgrade they lose their firewire connection but then Reinstalling QT must rewrite a missing file or something because it generally works.
