  • Missing Part of a Clip only in FCP, not in QT?

Posted by Kai Whittaker on September 19, 2006 at 2:57 pm

I have something strange happening in my FCP 5.1..

I digitized an entire tape into my system using the DV CODEC.. The tape is 40 minutes long. When I play the clip in FCP, it only plays 14 minutes of it.. If I open the file in the finder using Quicktime, it plays back the full 40 minutes. If I drag the 40 minute clip from the finder into FCP, it still only allows me to see 14 of the 40 minutes.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you,

    Kai

    Interestingly..

When I copied the files to another identical sysem on my network (another FInal Cut Pro HD system running on the same kind of G5 as mine) the files imported just fine.. they all show the proper length.. why is my system still not importing them properly.. I created a new project after having trashed prefs, restarting, fixing permissions, etc.. And stilol the files show the wrong length when imported.. even though they playback just fine in QT..

    How strange..

I have Intrested method to sollution out this, is that where your 40 minutes capture file located in Hard Disk you simply do this first you rename this file then entre and then you import rename file in FCP. U see all 40 minutes file in one go.. I dont know why this happen but this is the trick..
