  • Missing output plug-in message

Posted by John Gallagher on August 2, 2012 at 11:01 pm

Hi all. I’ve been using After Effects CS6 for a few weeks now and all seemed fine until the other day. As AE was loading this message appeared just before it opened up:

“You have at least one output module template that refers to a missing output plug-in. Please check your Output Module Templates.”

I clicked OK and AE loaded up as normal with no apparent issues. I had a bit of a search online for a solution but none are forthcoming.
Could anyone help? Where would I locate my Output Module Template? And what should I do when I find it?
    Much appreciated,

    John

Under normal circumstances, this message appears when you load an AEP that has at least one item in the Render Queue which uses an output format which cannot be found by the current instance of AE.

Did you open such a file?

I’ve just started having this problem too. I noticed it first when I installed Magic Bullet Suite – although I’m not certain that MB is the cause of the problem. Before I installed MB I hadn’t used AE for a week or so, so something else could have happened to cause the error. Also, I uninstalled MB and the problem still persisted.

    Latest Magic Bullet Suite
    Macbook Pro running Lion

Any ideas would be very well received!

    Cheers for the replies guys.
Well, after much searching and head scratching I found the Output Module Templates (Edit > Templates > Output Module…) and I discovered that the Multi-Machine Sequence setting is missing.
To be honest, what I use after effects for wouldn’t warrant me ever using more than one machine so may just delete the setting.
Would this be a good idea? There’s no plugin there anyway.
Once again, thanks for your help,
    John

I’m pretty sure I’ve had this message (or something similar) when I’ve tried to Render to a drive that is no longer connected to the system. I’ve also had it when I’ve loaded an old project file that has a queue already set up, but the drive I’m set to render to has had it’s name changed. I would imagine that you would need to select an output module (destination) in the render queue…

Go To EDIT – TEMPLATES – OUTPUT MODULE –
    OUTPUT MODULE – SETTINGS –
SETTINGS – SETTINGS NAME – SELECT MISSING Multi-Machine Sequence
Hit DELETE…. And restart After Effects…
I am sure your problem will solve.

    Hi Guys cheer up,
    Just Open After Effects
Go to Edit –> Templates –> Output Module –> Settings
Settings –> Settings Name –> select Missing Machine Sequences
    And DELETE it.
    And Restart After Effects.
I am sure your problem will solve.
