Missing files FCP/Finder/P2 – help-
I had recorded some stuff on p2 back on 10/13/08 that I then captured into my FCP 6.0.4 the same day. It was just two audio podcasts and I had captured audio only through the “Log and Transfer” in FCP (this isn’t really relevant probably but thought someone may ask).
Since that time I had edited one of the podcasts with no issues and moved on. Now, I went back to edit the second podcast and all of my source files don’t show up in the bin. The first podcast I edited, all of its source audio tracks still show up in my timeline but when I option-click the file and do ‘Reveal in Finder’ it takes me to the capture scratch folder but it doesn’t show any files! This clip is not a rendered clip so I don’t believe its being referenced any where other than in the capture scratch and it allows me to play it just fine. There should be that file though and at least one more in that folder. My only idea is that I somehow screwed up by naming it “.com podcast.mov.” Could that naming method have given me my problem? Still doesn’t make sense to me how it all disappeared on me. I’ve searched the finder and all three of my drives for that file name and nothing pops up.
Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated!
Thankfully I had recorded a proxy file of these clips so I have the audio on those clips but its only 24kHz. So as a last resort I will have to live with that. I’m very concerned at how this happened though. I have formatted the p2 cards for a big shoot I had the next day so don’t have the master content folder backed up…maybe I’ll begin doing that now too.
