  Minimum Lighting Requirements

  Hi, I hope someone can help me here:

  I recently videoed a youth rally down here in South Africa with my Cannon XLl HD camera. The lighting for the event wasnt very good and when I asked the promoter of the event to increase the lighting he wouldn’t. Although the capabilities of the camera are good, this lack of light has left parts of the video very dark and grainy. Even after fiddling with the Gain I still couldnt get it light enough. The question I want to ask is: Are there any minimum lighting requirements for stage performances etc? Including the Lights at the venue over the crowd etc. As you might have guessed, I am a novice at this and any help would be great.
