Mini DV Tape Question
Hi all,
I’m starting the process of transferring 100+ mini-dv tapes to my PC and some tapes have the dates written on them and some don’t. I no longer have the camera I recorded them on, so I am using a Sony DSR-11 to transfer to PC. For the tapes that I did not write dates on, is there a way for me to figure out the date of the recording? Since these are digital tapes, I assume the date/time is encoded on the tape, so how can I access that information?

Hi Brett
You may want to try this utility from Sony. I haven’t used it in a while but I believe it will suit your purpose. It was great for importing files from the camera’s recording unit (HVR-MRC1) and it did read and register the record date.
