Mini DV input settings
I’ve just got some material on Mini DV that I need to digitize. I usually have my system set to uncompressed 8 bit Beta SP through am AJA Io. My problem is that when I digitize the new MiniDV stuff, it looks squashed and wider. The canvas looks as if its squeezed and there’s a grey area on top and bottom, almost as if it was letterboxed. I want to import and view in standard 4×3. I’ve tried the settings, but can’t figure it out. Thanks, Jeff Weiser

The original is Mini DV what? Is your original shot 4×3 or 16×9?

Thanks guys. Looks like the post house decided to letterbox my dailies on their own accord. It’s on tape like that. Unbelieveable.
