Mini Display Port
Hello everyone,
I’m not sure if this has been discussed before (i did search).
Can you get accurate video representation luma and color space using the mini display port on the 09 MB Pros Using a HDMI adapter to a HD LCD display? -

Nope. Need a professional I/O device for this. The mini display port is just like DVI…a computer output.

Here is an interesting article that shows that apple has big plans for this port.
I wanted to know if anyone is using it with an HDMI adapter.

Now that you link to that, no, I am not. But I cannot comment on how accurate it is, as I haven’t seen it compared to the proper way of doing things.
BUT…know that computer monitors…the Apple ones…are 6 BIT MONITORS! That is a low resolution for grading. HDV and DVCPRO HD are 8-bit formats..as is XDCAM. So you will not see the full quality in that respect. Maybe closer than before…but I have zero experience with this. I doubt I’d rely on it.
