Migration to Avid and Premiere… Anyone sticking with FCP 7 for a while longer?

I really feel Premiere Pro comes close. For me the transition over was easy because it looks and acts very close. Plus it does stuff you always wanted FCP to do such as working with RAW files. You can key footage and play it back with out rendering (plus the keyer is way better) a matter of fact, I usually don’t ever render anything. You can play your timeline and edit at the same time. The list goes on. It has some real time saver features.

I’ve also been editing on FCP 7 for 8 years, and switched to X a couple of months ago to my regret (I started a thread about the deal-breaking issues).

Your thread helps because I was looking at Avid or Premiere. I know that Avid is the industry standard, but I am not a freelancer. I am staff, and I also prefer motion graphics and 3D, so I just want to get back to editing with ease so that I can cut and concentrate on animations and 3D again instead of studying new NLEs.

The comment about Premiere being good for AE users is interesting to me.
