  • Migrating from Premiere Pro to FCP X- SUBTITLES ?

Posted by Vinod Raja on April 21, 2017 at 12:53 pm

I finished editing a long project on Premiere pro over the last two years. I am migrating out of this software to use my FCP X to grade, take final out and archive the project.

On importing the Premiere pro XML in FCP X , I find that all the subtitle media files done in premiere are empty/blank and cannot reconnect the media. Is there a way out? What if I take a .mov out of the subtitles timeline and bring it to FCP X. Thought I should post it here too to seek help from users here.

    seeking help. thanks best Vinod

Did you use the Title tool or Caption tool to make the subtitles in Premiere?

I believe captions can be exported in a subtitle format, which could be brought into FCPX through third party plugins.

As Morten says CC can be exported as side car files – .srt would be the best choice.
Subtitles created with the Title tool are more complicated – to render out as movie is the easiest way.

If you interested in a way to handle the titles as “files” to extract the text you can contact me kiel at spherico dot com.
