I understand that After Effects enables you to back-save a project one generation earlier. I would appreciate some clarification as to exactly what that means, and exactly which versions of AE I need to save After Effects Creative Cloud (2014) projects back to CS6.

I have AE CS6, AE CC 2014, and AE CC 2015.

Am I missing an essential version, i.e. AE CC?

If so, where can I locate a download for straight, AE CC?

    Thanks.

    Thanks, Todd. Great article.

The “missing link” was After Effects CC (12). Whenever I searched for (12), the Adobe website kept sending me to AE CC (2015).

It took some doing, but through a third-party website I found the Adobe web page with CC (12) – only to discover that it won’t run under Yosemite. In case this helps anyone else, I found the links to AE CC (12) through a table at the bottom of prodesigntools dot com slash adobe-cc-direct-download-links dot html.
