    I just got my Apple Mighty Mouse in…and I have to say I already love it. It really worked nicely right off the bat. The right click functionality (I was still using the mouse that came with G5) is nice. Plus, scrolling with the little button in the middle works great. I recommend.

    please give us an update after a month of solid use. I was excited about the news of an official mac mouse with two buttons. after physically touching it in a computer store my excitment deminished. Although it worked great within FCP and cruising around in the photo application it felt like it owuld’nt last a week in a produciton enviroment. please prove me wrong so i can order one. at 50 clams i would like to make sure it is worth it. best of luck and please share with an update.

    Have been using one for about two weeks now. Am enjoying the smaller size (was using a LogiTech wireless rechargeable MX70, which I liked, but was starting to feel too big somehow — maybe my hands are shrinking). My favorite thing is the scroll ball — very peppy — especially the ease with which I can now scroll horizontally in my Browser window or through a Timeline. The right-clicking technique takes some getting used to, as you have to make sure your index finger isn’t making contact with the mouse’s left side, otherwise you just get another left-click.

    General Gripes:
    – Slow tracking: had to install the freeware app “MouseZoom” to get the tracking speed up to where I like it; the driver they include needs more speed at the high end for my taste;
    – Limited programability: am also hoping they’ll update the software to let you program a real command (like “Cmd-W”) to a particular button; right now the “Other” option only appears to let you choose another app to open;
    – wish there was a way to adjust the click tension (I prefer a slightly lighter touch, but it’s probably fine for most users);
    – the side squeeze buttons could use some work, and will only perform one function (you squeeze them together, so they’re really only the equivalent of one button);
    – repositioning the mouse while clicking and dragging is tricky, since it’s the whole mouse you’re holding down, rather than just a button on the top section; it CAN be done (if you hold on to the sides just right), but they could’ve made it easier.

    Despite that seemingly long list of quibbles, I’m still glad I got it, and am enjoying the combination of the mouse in my right hand, the ContourPro Shuttle in my left, and the keyboard in the middle.

    Well, that’s a buzz kill. Guess I haven’t used it long enough to reach any of those quibble milestones.

    One thing I do notice already though. I use it directly on my desk, no pad…and it moves smoother than any other optical mouse I’ve had.

    The other editor in the suite got one for his machine, and when i use it, it squeaks when you double click it (add your favorite mouse pun here)____________.

    Literally, it’s like it needs a little WD40. That’s good for the optics…ain’t it? Also, since there are now two buttons (or rather two sides) I seem to always click the right side when I don’t need it. There’s not enough tactical separation from left side and right side. The little scroll button is really kick bootie, though and I have no qualms about that. i wouldn’t trade my wacom tablet in for the world, it’s much better for my needs.

    I’d wait for the mightier mouse.

    You should also look at the Bella USA series of pro keyboards for FCP. Shuttle / Jog built right into the keyboard which I find much more efficient than a contour.
