I’ve been consulting for a number of clients lately who have had some very mysterious field-related issues in FCS3, and I have personally uncovered several strange misinterpretations of fields when moving material from FCP to Compressor.

If this type of mysterious issue has been cropping-up for any of you lately I might suggest that you try running Digital Rebellion’s free Compressor Repair utility. I’ve heard rumor that there are possible issues with bad remnants or fragments of outdated Quicktime installations stored away in Compressor cache or preferences that are possibly confusing to the app’s automatic field interpretation.

I never set the field dominance to AUTO, I always set it to what it needs to be, seems like there has always been an issue with AUTO.
