Has anyone ever successfully switched to a different frame rate and resolution mid-way through a project? We plan on starting at 23.976/720p but there is the potential that a client may want to eventually work at 1080p/24fps. We know its a silly thing to do but is it possible?

Frame SIZE change…not rate. Still 23.98fps.

Very possible. Just bring all the bins into a 1080p 24.98 project. Make a new sequence, cut what you have into that sequence…go from there. OR…continue to work 720p 23.98 and output to 1080p 23.98 when you are done. The Nitris has this ability.

I am constantly working with 720p 23.98 footage with a 1080p 23.98 master in mind.

Just go to your project tab and change your project from 720p to 1080p. Since the frame rate is the same it should just be a click.

You’ll probably want to do this at the end, though. Once you switch to 1080 you can recreate your titles at full 1080 rez, if your graphics are all created in 1080 you’ll want to batch import them (they were downrez’d when imported into a 720p project), and you may want to set your effects to HQ mode if they’re on 720p footage. Render, output.

Of course, if you have a Nitris definitely use it for upscaling. It should look cleaner.
