Mic Repair
Posted by John Livings on May 27, 2009 at 5:12 pmHi, Can anyone recommend a mic repair shop in LA (San Fernando Valley)?
The Mics are sony electret condenser camera mics.
I don’t know if its worth it, but its worth a try.
Thanks, John

Do you have a model number for the mic? Is it stereo or mono?

May 28, 2009 at 12:59 pmJohn,
B&H sells a replacement for $229.
OTOH, I had a class here a few years ago and someone brought a PD150. I’m not sure it’s the same mic, but it might be. Relative to a Sennheiser MKH 416, the Sony mic sounded broken.
No big surprise given the cost differential, but it was fun letting them hear the difference.
Regards,
Ty

May 28, 2009 at 2:42 pmHi Ty,
Thanks for responding, Yes, one is from a PD-150 and the other is from a DSR-500.
I have looked at the MKH-416 for years, If it were in the budget, I would own 4 of the mics.
Again Thanks, John
