    Hello to everyone.

I have another new challenge on my procces in learning as much as I can about video and video editing. Sound…….. This job I did, didn’t have a sound person around to ask question but I still adventure to run a XLR cable from a (BOX?) that had 5 mic’s imput and one speaker output. The box was small but i don’t know exactly what it was. Anyway. I connected my xlr cable to the output that was free and into my camera xlr imput (Panasonic dvx100a). The sound was very loud and I had to move the manual control to very low imput but the audio ended up sounding like…metallic…talking inside of a can kind of. I thought that I will be able to fix it in FCP anyhow but I realized that it my be difficult. I”m reading as much as I can about the subject but I was also hoping the someone with more experience could give a little push or direccion to go.

Thanks a lot for alking the time.

    Os

I doubt that you’ll ever get it into better shape, if its what I assume and was improperly connected to the wrong output on the “box” (mixer) in relation to the input on the camera.

I’m guessing that the output was LINE-level and the input in the camera was set to MIC-level.

This will resort in irreparable distortion.

There are many books about matching output to inputs, and you should spend some time with them as well as working with a good audio person to learn the techniques.

In the mean time, I suggest that if you don’t KNOW for SURE what kind of connections and settings to use, you’d be much better-off just using the on-camera mic.
If the track you recorded is in the condition you described (and I am assuming) it is quite likely beyond anyone’s help.
