  • Metadata when Importing FCP7 bin via XML

    Hi,
In Prem CS6 or CC, when importing a FCP7 bin via XML, where do the following FCP7 logging columns get patched into the Premiere metadata scheme?

    MOS=FALSE INT TOD=DAY
    Circle Take
    CAM ROLL A9C13
    SND ROLL DN-14D-T2

I’m seeing the following show up in Premiere:

    Audition
    14D
    2

But none of the Master Comments or Clip Comments.
Is there something I need to do in Premiere before importing the FCP7 XML so that this info has a place to go to?
    Thanks!
    John

    Not everything translates over.
I was able to get things like Marker Clips and Subclips from FCP 7 to Premiere CC by creating sequences in FCP 7 that had all the media in them, and bringing them over that way.

    Example:
Lets say I have 100 marked clips/subclips in my FCP 7 bin. Those won’t come over.
BUT if I drag them into a blank sequence, and import that sequence in CC, they will… in a way…

Sequences are your friend in the translation game between FCP 7 and Premiere CC.

    Indeed.

This is raw, unedited footage, which I have sync’ed up with the on-set logging data into a FCP7 bin XML.

I’m trying to understand Premiere’s metadata framework and how Premiere populates its metadata fields with the various FCP7 Master Comment etc fields when importing a FCP7 XML file containing clips in a bin.

    I see this at https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/importing-xml-project-files-final.html#final_cut_pro_clip_data :

Clip data in the Description, Scene, ShotTake, and LogNote fields in Final Cut Pro appear in the clip metadata fields with the same names in Premiere Pro.

So I’m provisionally concluding that entries in the FCP7 Master Comment and Clip Comment fields are not imported, but I’d love for someone to prove this wrong.
