My preferred workflow for downloading Canon movie files has been the EOS Utility, with the camera attached via USB cable to MBP. I’ve read a (thank you Shane) Shane Ross blog post about accessing metadata via the .thm files, but I assume that requires ejecting the card from the camera and using a card reader, correct? And it also requires several steps, renaming the .thm to .jpg for one.

Has anyone used Zoombrowser software? It seems to be hard to find, but would that enable me to access the metadata more conveniently?

More generally, I’d be curious about download workflow – do you find the EOS Utility useful or do you do something else? I haven’t had any issues yet, but there are frequent discussions in the XDCAM world about how important it is to use verification when downloading those data cards.

    Thanks.
