  Meridien-based MC

  A new job has put me on a Meridien-based Media Composer running on a Mac G4 with OS 9.1.

  The problem is, I cannot run newer versions of After Effects, Photoshop, a decent DVD authoring app, etc. on this OS 9 system. (Or even a web browser that will check gmail properly, for that matter.)

  Is it possible and SAFE to install OS X on top of the current OS 9 on the same machine, so that both will co-exist peacefully, with Media Composer kept perfectly happy?

  I’m normally a PC person, so thanks for bearing with me and any help is appreciated!
