    Hey everyone

We’re having an odd workflow problem. We’re on set, shooting 23.98 footage with Sony F900s, and recording audio using a fostex 8 track at 29.97, which creates broadcast wav files. The timecode is synced using lock-it boxes that are set to the same timecode as the cameras. I’m digitizing the footage using a Sony J-H3 and a kona Lhe card and letting the card do the downconversion to 29.97 DV footage. This is producing a timecode that doubles up every 4th or 5th frame, so that the 29th frame says ’24.’

When I I try and merge the audio file with the digitized video, the audio is between 4 and 7 frames early, and the timecode randomizes to about 10 seconds later than the video or audio track. The clap on the video is at the exact same timecode as the clap on the audio tracks. When I ‘merge clip’ it produces a broken in/out point, basically representing the offset of the audio & video (different in/out for audio & video).

When I merge clips using in-points marked on the clapper for audio and video, it’s in perfect sync but the timecode is still 4-8 seconds behind. I’m worried that when we go to finish none of the source footage is going to match up.

Any ideas on what this could be?

    thanks
